Registering a death

It is a legal requirement to register a death within 5 days. However, this period can be extended in certain circumstances, or if the coroner is involved in the investigation of the death. You can register the death by visiting any of the 12 registration offices in Cornwall.

You'll need to provide:

  • The medical certificate of cause of the death
  • The person’s full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Occupation
  • The person's address
